When People Abandon God, Their Wickedness Increases – (Proverbs 29:16, 18)

These passages speak about walking with God, both in prayer-time and in the study of His word, the Bible. When these passages speak about "no revelation" they are speaking of both hearing God's word preached, as well as the regular practice of reading and studying the written word of God, which is the Bible. And where there is an absence of both, either within our personal life, or in society as a whole there is wickedness. When people are no longer walking with God, and society as a whole spends no time in prayer or the hearing or reading of His word than wickedness flourishes. Why? Because when people abandon God, they give into their fleshly desires. Desires which arise out of our sin-nature. A nature which exists in every person because of the fallen state of humanity.
Those desires become more perverted as their hearts and conscience become seared to the increasing wickedness, which in turn brings more transgressions. Why? Because sin is never satisfied, it never get's full it is always hungry for more. Therefore, increasing sins become commonplace as a person is pushed further away from Jesus. As a result, society becomes more and more corrupt. But we have to remember under such conditions God will intervene and bring judgment as a result of a nations wickedness. Moreover, the righteous will see the fall and destruction of the wicked. Therefore, we should never mistake God's long-suffering as God's absence or not knowing the actions of the wicked. God is aware and God knows all of our actions. Moreover, God not only knows our actions, but He also looks at the thoughts, intents, and motives behind all of our actions. However, in certain cases He can be long-suffering in order for us to see the consequences of our actions, which can cause us to turn back to Him before it's too late.
