Raising Our Children in the Knowledge of the Lord – (Proverbs 29:15, 17)
Daily Proverbs
Daily Bible Study
An undisciplined and spoiled child brings destruction into their own lives, shame to everyone involved with them and heartache for their parents. Moreover, an undisciplined child can develop a sense of entitlement. An attitude which, if left unchecked will cause them to grow cold toward others, especially elderly parents. This not only creates chaos in the life of the child, but also contributes to the degradation of society as a whole. This is because others will learn from their ungodly example.
Here in these passages God's word encourages us to raise our children in the honor and knowledge of God. To raise them in humility, kindness and wisdom as gained from the study of God's word. To do so develops a child, which will better serve God and society. A child who, when mature will build up others, care for parents and be a blessing to those they meet and themselves. This can only be accomplished by parents who walk closely with the Lord and spend time in His word. Raising children is a partnership not only between parents, but also between the parents and God. Godly parents look to the Lord for guidance and understanding.
