Wisdom Waits, Honors, Speaks Appropriately and Does Not Act Hastily – (Proverbs 29:19-20)

Both of these passages speak of true wisdom which is governing our actions by God's word and God's direction through the guidance of the Holy Spirit. And not living by our emotions or saying the first thing that comes into our heads. These passages also speak of attitudes and how to appropriately respond to authority. However taken together they speak about the condition of one's heart. This includes our attitudes toward God, toward others and how we see ourselves in relation to God and our role in His kingdom. Jesus calls us to first turn our hearts over to Him, to follow Him and study the Bible. And as we do so, we see that attitudes taught by our world today contradict what the Bible teaches.
As followers of Christ, we soon learn that the world we live in is at enmity with God. Today we are taught by the world to put self-first, meet our own needs, to do whatever is necessary to get what we want. The world tells us if we do this then we will be happy with ourselves and the rest of the world will be happy with us. However, we soon discover that this is not true, and the quickest way to unhappiness is to put ourselves first before anything else. In addition, when we do, we leave God out of our thinking and we become foolish in our nature because our pride and ego take over. It's then we reach the point spoken of in these verses. That's when what we want is more important than everything else, including God. And that's the foolishness spoken of in these passages.
