Daily Proverbs
Who has woe? Who has sorrow? Who has contentions? Who has complaints? Who has wounds without cause? Who has redness of eyes? Those who linger long at the wine, those who go in search of mixed wine.

The last several verses of this chapter are focused on the results of drinking too much. The results of constant drinking and ingestion of alcohol and the effect they have on the life of an individual. The first two verses of this section of scripture show us the end result of a life given over to alcohol and the avoidance of living as God as shown us. The end result of this type of life is woe, sorrow, contentions, wounds and complaining about life, as well as disease and the destruction of one's health. And this is about the end of a life given over to sin, which is destruction. This is true because sin will never stop. The goal of sin is not to stay the same, but to grow. And once it's given a chance to thrive it will always grow and consume more.
Sin is like an invading virus living off of the energy of its host, it only seeks to use its host to grow bigger and stronger. And sinful behavior will not stop until the host is destroyed and a life is lost to sin. We have to remember sin has only one objective. That objective is the total destruction of all those who try to embrace it and hold on to it and live with it. And in order to accomplish that goal sin destroys the defenses of common sense and moral standards within its host, sin needs to do this, why? Because, it does so in order to gain the willing participation of those who try to hold on to it and control it. It does so because this is a necessary step in order for sin to accomplish its goal of bringing about the complete destruction of the person who embraces sin and calls it friend and companion.
