Intoxication Lures It’s Victims to Destruction – (Proverbs 23:31-35)
Daily Proverbs
Do not look on the wine when it is red, When it sparkles in the cup, When it swirls around smoothly; At the last it bites like a serpent, And stings like a viper. Your eyes will see strange things, And your heart will utter perverse things. Yes, you will be like one who lies down in the midst of the sea, Or like one who lies at the top of the mast, saying: "They have struck me, but I was not hurt; They have beaten me, but I did not feel it. When shall I awake, that I may seek another drink?"

Here God's word gives us not only practical advice, but also spiritual wisdom which is applicable to all sin. Sin like alcohol lures in its victims. First enticed by the sparkling beauty and the promise of fun the victim is soon bitten. And as the venom makes its way into the heart they are left defenseless to suffer it's destruction on their lives. This is because sin has one purpose, and that is the destruction of all those who embrace it. All sin has as its goal our complete separation from God and our eternal destruction. Therefore, sin will never be satisfied until it has changed our hearts and we are either completely lost from God or completely destroyed.
Moreover, like alcohol sin will numb our minds with its amnesic effect, causing us to forget the misery and damage it caused as it's victim looks forward to the next time they can sin. It has to do this so we will have the desire to return for more damage, until our lives are destroyed. Dear believer, do not believe the world's lies that sin and intoxication are fun past times. This is a lie from the pit of hell meant to lure people away for their own destruction. This type of sin not only damages us physically, but also socially and mentally, as well as it damages the lives of those who love us the most. Sin's like this which dull the senses if continued destroy the body physically, destroy lives financially and destroy families socially because it tears its victims away from everything they hold dear and removes them from those who love them and would help them the most.
