Wisdom is Better than Strength – (Proverbs 30:24-28)

Daily Proverbs

There are four things which are little on the earth, but they are exceedingly wise: The ants are a people not strong, yet they prepare their food in the summer; the rock badgers are a feeble folk, yet they make their homes in the crags; the locusts have no king, yet they all advance in ranks; the spider skillfully grasps with its hands, and it is in kings’ palaces.

Daily Bible Study
In these passages Agur tells us of four small and seemingly insignificant creatures. However, as we look closely at them there is a wisdom seen in the behavior of each of these creations of God. This is a behavior which reveals the love of a wise creator. Ants, though small work diligently, they work in cooperation and they are not slack; they gather food for winter and help one another for the good of the colony. The rock badgers though small and weak are very diligent. Rock badgers climb and find safety and shelter in the high rock clefts. These are part of God’s creation and show the attention and detail of a loving Creator.

Locust show organization, cooperation and teamwork coming together as one unit, all marching in formation, yet they have no one to lead them. And the spider shows resourcefulness as well as design and beauty in its web. Moreover, the lowly spider can be found in even the most costly of palaces and buildings of men. Together with the rest of nature, they form God’s natural revelation to us. How is this so? Because, as we look at the intricacies of nature, we see the hand of our creator at work and therefore from this we know God is with us and that He is the Author of Creation. And this in turn should cause us to seek after God with all our hearts. And when we do so, God will make Himself known to us and bring us to the saving knowledge of Christ Jesus our Lord.
