God’s Wisdom and Faith In Christ Provide an Abundant Life – (Proverbs 21:20-21)

Living wisely as spoken of here, means to follow the Lord and to understand and obey His precepts for a good life, one filled with joy and happiness despite the trials we know will come, because of the fallen world we live in. God's wisdom helps us to live a more abundant spiritual life through God's guidance with family and friends. These passages are not a reference to wealth, but rather to the wise who make sure they have what's needed for the long term. Whereas the foolish tend to take their entire reserve and squander it all at once on their desires. It's about following God's precepts, following God's wisdom and loving the Lord. And for us today, this also refers to those who find God's mercy which is through Jesus alone, because with our faith in Christ, God can now impute the righteousness of Jesus to us. It's through Christ's imputed righteousness that we have received honor before God.

Moreover, through His righteousness freely credited to us, we ourselves become righteous in the eyes of God. Which is then proven to us by the guarantee of our salvation and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. All of this is freely given to us, because of our faith in Jesus. With our salvation, we are indwelt by the Holy Spirit who teaches God's precepts as He helps us to understand God's word in light of who Jesus is and what He has done for us. Moreover, we mustn't forget, it was the Holy Spirit who inspired the writers of both the Old and New Testaments to faithfully record God's plan of redemption and His interactions with humanity. Therefore, as followers of Christ, it's our submission to the guidance of the Holy Spirit and the regular study of God's word, which leads to an abundant life and a more fulfilling life in Christ. And though there will be trials and tribulations, we have the very God of heaven right by our side to see us through the trials that arise in life.
