God Gives Us Wisdom Freely – (Proverbs 8:25-30)

Daily Proverbs

Before the mountains were settled, Before the hills, I was brought forth; While as yet He had not made the earth or the fields, Or the primeval dust of the world. When He prepared the heavens, I was there, When He drew a circle on the face of the deep, When He established the clouds above, When He strengthened the fountains of the deep, When He assigned to the sea its limit, So that the waters would not transgress His command, When He marked out the foundations of the earth, Then I was beside Him as a master craftsman; And I was daily His delight, Rejoicing always before Him.

Daily Bible Study
This chapter of Proverbs shows us, the excellency of God's wisdom. And in these passages of scripture as well as through the entire chapter, we have seen God's wisdom personified as a person. This was done for our benefit to help us understand how God's wisdom is personally applied to each and every believer, and how it can change our lives because of our faith and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. God's wisdom helps us to live a more abundant life through faith. Moreover, we understand that because of our faith we have become children of God indwelt by the Holy Spirit. And because of our special relationship with the Lord, we gain wisdom through the study of God's word and through the guidance and teaching of the Holy Spirit. It's the Holy Spirit who helps to "illuminate" or increase our understanding of God and the Bible as we read scripture. Because we can now see God's word in light of who Jesus is and what He has done for us. God's word is His revelation to us regarding His plan of redemption for mankind, therefore the Bible from front cover to back cover, from Old Testament to New Testament is about Christ.

These verses parallel the creation account. They show us Jesus, who is fully God, used His eternal wisdom to create everything that was created. In addition, these passages verify for us the creation account in Genesis and show us Jesus is the author of all creation. Moreover, they tie together the details given us in the first chapter of John's Gospel. The Bible in the first chapter of John tells us that Jesus is the Word. And the Word was with God and the Word was God! And everything that was created was created by and through Him! The word used by the Apostle John was "logos" and this Greek word symbolized the wisdom of God as well as all the attributes of God personified into a living person. In other words, God in the flesh, who we know is Christ Jesus our Lord. Therefore, as children of God, we can learn wisdom and truth from the Creator Himself! Because of Jesus and God's word the Bible, through the guidance of the Holy Spirit we can learn about God and the things of God. And as children of God, we have the Holy Spirit as our teacher. He indwells all those who accept Jesus by faith, and the Bible tells us for those who are children of God, He illuminates scripture to give us understanding and wisdom.
