Our Thoughts Matter to God – (Proverbs 12:5-7)

Our thoughts matter! They matter to God and they shape our actions and attitude toward others. Our thoughts stem from the desires of our hearts, therefore, they shape our attitude toward the Lord and toward the world around us. The thoughts of the righteous are for good, out of their love for the Lord, whereas the thoughts of the wicked are toward evil for self-gain and to hurt those around them, who they see as a threat. God promises He will overthrow the wicked and bring turmoil and destruction into their lives. Though the wicked may gain material wealth now, their end is destruction for all of eternity. We have to remember when God looks at us, He does so with eternity in mind. And God looks at the righteous, those who place their faith in Christ and give their hearts to God, as His dear children.
God's heart is with His children and because of our faith in Christ, He will secure eternal life for us, spent with Jesus. These passages go on to tell us, that the righteous benefit not only themselves; but also their families and the world around them. Because they are led by the Lord, to do the work of God, which benefits the world around them. But we can never forget our righteousness comes from Christ. As the Bible tells us, "There is none righteous, no, not one." The righteousness spoken of here, is the righteousness of God given freely to those who love the Lord. Our salvation brings with it the imputed righteousness of Jesus, which is then given to us. Because of what Jesus did for us, and our faith in Him, we are righteous before a Holy God. When God looks at us, He sees not our sin, but Jesus' righteousness and His sacrifice for us. In addition, it brings the Holy Spirit into our lives, who in turn works to change us from the inside out, so we can live a life pleasing to God. A life beneficial to others and the world around us.
