Daily Bible Study
This passage speaks of first having wisdom and humility from the study of God's word and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. And secondly, using that wisdom to govern one's life following the will of God, especially in the area of one's personal finances. Here the Bible is conveying the message that too much wealth, too soon without wisdom will usually be used foolishly or be lost entirely. In addition, this may bring about long-term problems for a person because of the consequences of losing the security brought by their initial wealth, as well as loss of the possessions obtain during their time of wealth. Also, there is some suggestion here that the sudden wealth gained may not have been entirely by moral means. We have to remember any wealth gained by dishonesty, will take away God's blessings on any individual who gained it through deception.

Moreover, there is a larger Biblical principle alluded to here in these passages. And that principle is, how we use the blessings God has given us matters to God. The Bible teaches us quite a bit in regards to how to use the blessings given to us by God, and that God never intended for us to use our blessings to hoard more material wealth for ourselves. A perfect Biblical example of using God's blessings wisely is Boaz, from the story of Ruth. Boaz used his wealth to bless others, providing employment and taking care of those in need around him. Therefore, it's important for us to remember God blesses us in order that we can provide for ourselves, our families, help those in need around us and bless others. This includes help reaching out to the lost with the Gospel of Christ. God does not bless us with material wealth so we can accumulate more for ourselves. On the contrary the Bible speaks out against those who misuse their wealth for greed or obtain it by unscrupulous means.
