Daily Bible Study
This passage from the book of Proverbs gives us assurance in two ways. First, God will deliver those who have placed their faith in Christ when they taste death. If we belong to the Lord through faith in Christ, then He will make sure we are with Him, and He will deliver us from the hands of death. We will see Jesus face to face and at that time will know more, understand more, have more joy and more happiness than we can ever have while living in this fallen world. Secondly, God can deliver those who are stumbling toward death and destruction. The Lord is mighty to save, and He has given us a lifeline who is Christ Jesus our Lord.  When we confess Jesus as Lord, and accept Him as Savior, we step from darkness into light and we move from death into life.

Not only life, but eternal life to come and a more abundant life now because of the indwelling of the Holy Spirit who keeps us until we go home to be with Christ. Once we commit our lives to Christ through faith alone we are indwelt by the Holy Spirit who begins His work of sanctification in our lives. Sanctification is God's process of spiritual growth, whereby God changes us from the inside out. This is because the Holy Spirit who works with our new spirit, given to us at the moment of salvation, changes our hearts and minds, making us more sensitive to the things of God and His will in our lives. And it's our salvation through faith and the work of sanctification that brings us back from death. We who were stumbling toward eternal destruction are brought back to eternal life because of our faith in Jesus and our faith in the price He paid for us. Therefore, we are no longer drawn toward death as those going to the slaughter, instead through faith, we have been given the gift of eternal life and adoption into the family of God, as children of God and joint-heirs with Christ.
