God's Word Is His Word, His Revelation, Wisdom for Us – (Proverbs 30:4-6)

Daily Proverbs

Who has ascended into heaven, or descended? Who has gathered the wind in His fists? Who has bound the waters in a garment? Who has established all the ends of the earth? What is His name, and what is His Son's name, if you know? Every word of God is pure; He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him. Do not add to His words, lest He rebuke you, and you be found a liar.

These passages show and tell us so much more than we may gather at first glance. We must remember that the Bible is the very word of God. All of scripture is God breathed, through the Holy Spirit! The Holy Spirit inspired the authors to faithfully and correctly record God's revelation and wisdom to mankind using their own experiences and character. And these passages show us just how true that is. Here is a man named Agur, he was living at the time of Solomon. He is speaking to us in regards to God's wisdom as he is led by the Holy Spirit to record God's revelation to us.

And he rhetorically asks of us in verse four if we know God's name, but then what does he ask next? "What is His Son's name, if you know?" The answer to that question is Jesus Christ our Lord, the only begotten Son of the Father. Here is God's word once again showing us a prophecy of the incarnation and the importance of Jesus Christ. Moreover the last passages show us with a powerful statement that scripture is inspired. Therefore, for us to add to God's word is to deny that God is the standard of truth. In addition, it means if we arrogantly reject that He alone has created all things and established the ends of the earth, as God's word so clearly tells us, then the Lord will rebuke us and in the end we will be found a liar before God.
