The Wicked Only Have Concern for Themselves – (Proverbs 29:7)

Here God once again is showing us a characteristic which distinguishes the righteous from the wicked. The righteous have a heart for others, especially the poor. They are concerned for the welfare of their fellow man in all areas of life, socially, physically and spiritually. This is a natural byproduct of a heart in love with the Lord. Those who have a heart for God and a relationship with Him through Christ cannot help but have a heart for those in need. And that is the idea conveyed in these passages. Those who love the Lord, have a heart which is alive and sensitive to the will of God. Whereas the wicked are not concerned with anyone other than themselves because their hearts are dead in their trespasses and sins.

The wicked have no love in their hearts, and therefore have no love for another. This is because a heart in love with self does not have the capacity to love others and put the welfare of others ahead of self. They may feign love in order to gain additional benefits and recognition for themselves. However, their hearts only plot the destruction of others, because in reality they are only striving to fulfill the desires of their flesh. Dear child of God, this behavior in a wicked person, is the sign of their destruction. This behavior confirms their hearts of enmity against God and confirms they have been sealed for destruction. Therefore, it's important for us to understand only Christ can reach such a person. Only the Holy Spirit has the power to touch a heart which is dead in trespasses and sins and restore it back to life again.
