A Fool Shows Pride, the Prudent Mercy – (Proverbs 12:15-16)

Daily Proverbs

The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, but he who heeds counsel is wise. A fool's wrath is known at once, but a prudent man covers shame.

Daily Bible Study
Fools anger easily and they can be full of ego and un-merited pride. When the fool does not get his way he attacks and becomes angry. The fool is also what the Bible calls the natural person. This is someone who is led around by their sin nature, they crave to fill basic desires of the flesh in order to satisfy self. However the righteous person shows wisdom gained through the study of God's word and the teaching of the Holy Spirit. Also the righteous man shows humility and prudence. He ignores insults, rather judging right and wrong based on God's law and not by prejudice, or public opinion. He judges not on personal gain or because of retaliation and anger, but on God's word. He can do this because he relies not on himself or his willpower, but on the Lord who sustains him.

We as followers of Christ are looking out for the good of others as it relates to God's kingdom, and as it relates to eternity spent in the presence of Christ. We are doing so, even for those who hate us, and for those who attack us. We are not to react as the world acts seeking vengeance, retribution, personal gain or the recognition of men. We are not to mistreat others out of anger or spite. We are called by Jesus to put all people and their best interest as it relates to God's kingdom ahead of our own. We are called to protect those who are weak and help those in need. We are not to follow after the world, but we are to follow Christ. We are to dwell on His word and be ready in season and out of season to give a defense for the faith that we have in Jesus. We should always be found teaching and proclaiming the word of God accurately before men, and spreading the Good News of salvation through faith in Christ. Dear child of God, these are not things we can do of our own accord, these things we can only do through the power of the Holy Spirit who indwells us.
