Daily Proverbs
Daily Bible Study
In this passage, God is truly giving us loving advice and a warning. We live in a fallen world and the best defense against falling into sin that can destroy our lives and the lives of those around us, is to remember the Lord's commands and His guidance. And that's what the book of Proverbs is all about. In the book of Proverbs God gives us wisdom for everyday life as well as wisdom to stay close to God. And more importantly wisdom to stay in fellowship with Him through Jesus and gain godly wisdom for a joyful and abundant life today as we walk with the Lord. God's word is part of the foundation of our lives once we place our faith in Jesus for salvation. Because of our faith, the Holy Spirit helps us to better understand God's word in light of who Jesus is and what He has done for us. Remember as followers of Christ, we are not alone, we are indwelt by the Holy Spirit. This means God is always with us, to guide and direct us, all we have to do is listen!
Moreover, it's the Holy Spirit who is the true author of scripture. God through the Holy Spirit inspired the writers of the Bible to faithfully record the spoken word of the Lord. And it's through the reading and studying of God's word that we can grow in wisdom, grow in faith and strength to endure the spiritual warfare which is waged all around us. God tells us that His word, the Bible is called the "Sword of the Spirit" and it's our primary offensive weapon against the attacks of Satan as well as one of the sources of our daily inspiration. The Holy Spirit's work in us once we become saved is to change and conform us into the likeness of Jesus. He does this by changing our hearts and minds. As we are changed from the inside out, we begin to see changes in our attitudes, our outlook on life, and as we grow in Christ, we develop a deeper and greater sense of joy and peace which the world cannot understand. Through God's word, the Bible, we gain wisdom as we learn more about God, who He is, His interactions with mankind, as well as His plan of redemption and His will for our lives. Both the Holy Spirit and God's word work hand in hand, to help us grow in Christ and therefore the two cannot be separated.
