Wise Children Are the Honor of their Parents – (Proverbs 27:11)

This passage shows us the importance of children and how they honor their parents in their hearts and through their behavior. God's word tells us a child who is wise makes a parent glad. Wise in this context speaks of wisdom gained by living a life with fear of the Lord. Living in the "fear of the Lord" means we have a deep down love, respect, awe and reverence for God and His word, and a love for Christ. Moreover, this shows us the end result of raising our children up in the admonition and the knowledge of God. A home where parents have modeled what it means to live a life surrendered to Christ Jesus our Lord.

A family where mom an dad have submitted to God and followed the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Parents who spend time in the study of God's word. Parents who then use wisdom gain through the instruction of the Holy Spirit to guide their children wisely. Parents who have modeled what it means to place others ahead of themselves. How we live our lives in front of our children teaches them more about who we are, our faith and our trust in God than anything we can ever tell them. This combined with love, prayer and guidance from God can help us to raise godly children. And godly children are an answer to those who criticize us, because they are evidence of a godly life.
