The Wise Seek Wise Council – (Proverbs 25:2-3)

The Wise Seek Wise Council – (Proverbs 25:2-3)

Daily Proverbs
It is the glory of God to conceal a matter, but the glory of kings is to search out a matter. As the heavens for height and the earth for depth, so the heart of kings is unsearchable.

Daily Bible Study
God needs no council because He alone is Lord over all. There is nothing God does not know, does not understand and has not created. The Bible tells us that God has counted the very number of hairs on our head. However, it is not so with man. And that's what these passages are speaking about, using the example of the king who is responsible for the welfare of his people. The king has a responsibility to seek out the wise godly council. Not council in the ways of man using man's wisdom, but godly council which leads to life. And this goes along with the understanding that God will hold each of us responsible for how we use the gifts He has given us. As well as holding us accountable for the responsibilities of the role He has placed us in at any particular point in our lives.

In addition, the king and those in roles of leadership over others also have a responsibility to keep some things hidden. Not all personal matters are to be spoken of. Using godly wisdom for the good of others something's are to be kept from the common knowledge of others. Some things, because of the personal nature of the matter are to be kept from the general knowledge of people in order to protect the welfare of those involved. And it's in these situations the king needs godly wisdom to discern which way is best for the good of those God has given him charge over. And in the context of today's society, these passages are to be taken as guidelines. They are instructions for all those who in their day to day lives serve in a leadership role over others.
