Daily Bible Study
This verse offers God's guidance in the sensible managing of financial resources. This passage speaks of securing one's income and cash flow for the long term before changing your lifestyle. In other words, using godly wisdom in managing the resources which God has blessed us with. During this time it was acceptable to live in a tent; however, it was desirable to live in a house. The move into a house, however, required additional wealth and financial resources. And what this verse is speaking about, is the sensible preparation and planning before spending our financial resources on a change in life style.

It speaks of making sure to secure our livelihood and income before we attempt to move from the tent to the house. In other words, making sure we can afford the change in lifestyle and support ourselves to avoid getting into debt. This is applicable to all areas of our life. We must count the cost and prepare our finances. This helps us to be good stewards of the blessings God has given us, why? Because, as followers of Christ we are responsible for using the blessings of God wisely. In addition, we are responsible to do our part by using our God given time, talents and resources wisely to support ourselves and our families, help those in need and further the spread of the Gospel message.
