Daily Proverbs
My son, eat honey because it is good, And the honeycomb which is sweet to your taste; So shall the knowledge of wisdom be to your soul; If you have found it, there is a prospect, and your hope will not be cut off.
Daily Bible Study
Just as honeycomb is sweet to the taste, good for the body and makes the mind sharp so too is the word of God to the soul of man. We are told by God that our scripture is "God breathed." What this means is that the Holy Spirit inspired and influenced the writers of the Bible. They recorded for us God's wisdom and His revelation to mankind about Himself and His plan of redemption. The Bible scholars use the phrase, "verbal plenary inspiration" to refer to the fact that the Holy Spirit is the true author of scripture. Moreover, the Holy Spirit illuminates scripture for all those who have placed their faith in Christ Jesus our Lord. This means the Holy Spirit deepens our understanding of scripture as we read the Bible, in light of who Jesus is and what He has done for us, and in light of God's plan of redemption.
Therefore, when we study the Bible, we are being taught the wisdom of God directly from God because of the inspiration and guidance of the Holy Spirit. The Bible is God's revelation about Himself and His plan of redemption for mankind. And the wisdom taught to us by God leads to eternal life as well as a more abundant life now through Christ, who has redeemed us back to God by His blood shed for us at the Cross of Calvary. And because of Jesus our hope will not be cut off. Instead, through Him we have become children of God. And not only children, but co-heirs with Christ. Moreover, through the process of spiritual growth brought about by the Holy Spirit, we become more effective for the work God has called us to do. In addition, as we study of God's word, we become better equipped to share the Gospel of Christ for the salvation of souls.
