God’s Wisdom and Fear of the Lord Brings Blessings – (Proverbs 24:3-4)

Through wisdom a house is built, and by understanding it is established; By knowledge the rooms are filled With all precious and pleasant riches.

In these passages the word "house" refers to not just the physical dwelling place, but also one's life, one's family and one's career and way in the world. It also speaks of wisdom gained from God's word and the fear of the Lord, along with an attitude of humility and submission displayed by our love for God and our desire to follow His will. The term "Fear of the Lord," means to have a deep-down, heart-felt attitude of love, reverence, awe and respect for God. This type of attitude brings blessings into our lives. Therefore, the end result is a rich and blessed life, rich in the things of God and joy that comes from a close relationship with God through Christ. These passages are referring to a home built on faith in God through Christ along with a wisdom gained through the study of God's word.

These passages do not refer to following the behavior and wisdom of the world to make oneself materially wealthy. An important part of wisdom is to understand that our wealth and blessings are not dependent on the things of this world. Nor do they come from having material possessions or the recognition of men. The true reality is a life built on the fear of the Lord brings blessings to us and our family. Those blessings display themselves as a heart of mercy, compassion and grace. Attitudes built into us by the Holy Spirit. This is because we understand it is the Holy Spirit who governs our hearts as He changes us from the inside out. And as we become a new creation in Christ, the love within our families also grows. And finally a life built on the fear of the Lord brings joy and peace because we know we are secure in Christ Jesus our Lord. Moreover, we have comfort in knowing the eternity which awaits us.
