A Parent's Joy is Godly Children Seeking the Lord – (Proverbs 23:22-25)

Daily Proverbs
Listen to your father who begot you, and do not despise your mother when she is old. Buy the truth, and do not sell it, also wisdom and instruction and understanding. The father of the righteous will greatly rejoice, and he who begets a wise child will delight in him. Let your father and your mother be glad, and let her who bore you rejoice.

Daily Bible Study
All parents want what's best for their children, both during their lives and in eternity to come. Therefore, nothing gladdens the heart of godly parents more than to see their children follow after the Lord. The joy of every parents heart is to watch their children seek out God's word for guidance and understanding. A child who places their faith in Christ, not only has eternal life and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, but they also settle the hearts of their parents. As parents, we know if they are in Christ, then they are grounded on a foundation that shall see them through every storm and every trial. Moreover, parents have peace knowing God can bring spiritual growth into their lives, because of their relationship with Christ.

In addition, parents can trust that God will build perseverance within their hearts as they remain steadfast in their trust of God. We know Jesus will not only give them life, but give them life more abundantly as they follow Him and submit to the day to day guidance of the Holy Spirit. This brings peace to a parent's heart, knowing the world we live in is lost and in rebellion against God. The Apostle Paul tells us that this world is ruled by the "prince of the power of the air" who is Satan. Therefore, we know that this world seeks to destroy people and separate them from God. However, when our children place their faith in Jesus and follow the Lord, we know God in His sovereignty will keep them secure in His salvation until they meet the Lord. And lastly, we have the comfort of knowing when our time on this earth has come, we shall see them in God's kingdom, glorified and serving Christ still.
