God Watches the Words that We Speak – (Proverbs 12:13-14)

These verses provide an illustration of the power of the words that we speak to others and to ourselves. The reward of wise words spoken by the righteous are like those of physical labor. They refresh the soul and bring joy and fulfillment to those who hear them. Moreover, the words spoken by us, both good and bad stem from the condition of our hearts. Moreover, it's a reflection of the source from which our hearts draw its influence. In other words, we often times speak what we feel in our heart, and what we feel in our hearts, can depend on who and what we follow, and those words can either build others up or tear people down. And what we speak, both in public and private matters, it matters to God, and it matters to us because it affects our hearts.
These passages show us the contrast between the righteous who use their words to build up those around them, deliver others from trouble and edify fellow believers. And the words of the wicked, which are spoken only to condemn others. They are used to destroy what's good, and to create chaos. They do so in order to bring self-gain, self-recognition and to fulfill the hatred in their hearts. Dear believer our words matter to God! They matter because they stem from our heart and they show the condition of our heart and the love we have toward God and those around us. How we use them and what we use them for not only reflects our heart toward God, our heart toward Christ and our heart toward others. But they also affect our joy now and our eternal rewards which await us, in the eternity to come.
