When we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we are indwelt by the Holy Spirit, who begins a work in our lives changing us from the inside out. This transformation of God causes several things to happen in our hearts. First, we develop a joy in our lives that defies explanation. Then, as we grow in Christ, we become sensitive to the things of God, and we develop a love for God and His word. In addition, we develop a love for others and a love for those who are lost and do not know Christ. This happens because with our salvation the Lord replaces our spirit which was dead in trespasses and sins, with a new spirit which is alive to God and the things of God.

As we grow and study God's word the Holy Spirit comes along side of us and works with our spirit to help illuminate our understanding and knowledge of scripture. And as God works our salvation out in us, we grow in wisdom, because we grow in our knowledge of Jesus. With our salvation, we now better understand the Bible because we can now see God's word in light of who Jesus truly is and what He means to God's plan of redemption. As we learn and grow in wisdom and understanding of God, we gain a knowledge that leads to a more abundant life in Christ. A knowledge which we then share with those around us. God's wisdom and power give us the ability to live out His will and His word in a practical way in our day to day lives. Therefore the daily study and reading of God's word, the Bible is essential to our spiritual growth and understanding of who Jesus us, what He has done for us and what our lives are in Him.
