It’s All About Our Heart for the Lord – (Proverbs 15:12-15)

It's All About Our Heart for the Lord – (Proverbs 15:12-15)

Daily Proverbs

A scoffer does not love one who corrects him, nor will he go to the wise. A merry heart makes a cheerful countenance, but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken. The heart of him who has understanding seeks knowledge, but the mouth of fools feeds on foolishness. All the days of the afflicted are evil, but he who is of a merry heart has a  continual feast.

Daily Bible Study
Everything about our faith and knowledge of God can be summarized by the answers to two questions. This is true in the life of every person and both items are conditions of the heart. First, what is our heart towards Jesus? Second, what is our heart towards God's word, the Bible? The answer to these two questions define our faith and our character. Our inner strength is made stronger by our faith in the Lord. Our endurance is increased by the presence of the Holy Spirit who indwells us. It's the Holy Spirit, who is guiding and watching over all those who have given their hearts to Jesus. With our salvation comes the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, who changes our hearts from the inside out through God's process of spiritual growth called "sanctification." The Holy Spirit, brings a joy and peace to our lives which defies human understanding. A joy and peace, which stems from our new relationship with God through Christ.

In addition, through the spiritual growth that takes place in our hearts and minds, God's children have discernment as we seek more knowledge and understanding through the study of God's word, the Bible. As children of God, the Lord leads and directs our paths through His word and the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Moreover, the wisdom we learn from God last for an entire lifetime. However, the fool and the scoffer are devoid of understanding and feed like cattle on foolishness and ridicule. They do so in an effort to harden their hearts against a God who loves them dearly. They do so because of their desire is to run headfirst into destruction as along as their sinful desires are satisfied and fulfilled. The scoffer loves his rebellion, therefore, his scoffing is just a reflection of the condition of his heart. Because his heart has become corrupted by sin, he has no concern for correction and does not seek wisdom. Rather, like the fool, they together only seek chaos and destruction because of the wickedness of their hearts.
