Following the World Leads to Despair – (Proverbs 15:26-27)

Daily Bible Study
Often times as we read the Bible, we see that it goes contrary to what the world and modern culture tell us to do, and these verses are no exception. There is nothing wrong with success in our lives or gain in and of itself. What the Bible is referring to here is replacing following the Lord, will the following of material gain, obtained by any means possible. Replacing hard work and honest labor with greedy desire to gain more and more. And to use immoral or dishonest activities to get ahead. We have to remember the old adage, "it's just business" or "business is business" won't matter when we facing God in judgment.
Therefore, we have to remember that one of the many blessings of the Lord is our talents and ability to work and support ourselves and provide for those who count on us. To have the opportunity to use our time, talents and abilities to perform honest work. However, because of the fallen world, we can turn that blessing into a curse or worse a sin. We do this when we replace God with our desires and substitute earning an honest living with getting ahead by any means possible or by taking from others. God looks at the hearts of men and all of us will give an account of what we did with the time, talent and resources God has given us and how we used those to further the spread of the Gospel of Jesus and help those in need around us.
