God has an expectation on all rulers, they are to represent the Lord with righteousness and represent the people over whom they rule. When a ruler does this the Lord will bless that nation, their rulers and the people. Because when the rulers and the people of that nation, follow the Lord, and give their hearts over to Him, they shall be blessed by God and exalted among the other nations. Moreover, they shall become a light of the Gospel of Christ to the rest of the world. However, when rulers become wicked, hinder righteousness, promote evil and allow their people to wander from the Lord, that nation, its rulers and people become an abomination to God, and as a result, the Lord will no longer bless that nation. Moreover, we have to remember what God said about Israel His chosen people and how God's promise to the nation of Israel affects the other nations of the earth.

Those nations and people who bless Israel God will bless them abundantly. However, those nations and people who curse Israel, God will curse and eventually remove from the family of nations! We have to remember God is not mocked, God will send such a nation warnings. These warnings may be in the form of natural disasters, changes in weather patterns, political conflict and turmoil or even economic hardship. God will do this in order for that nation, its rulers and its people to turn back toward Him, so they can once again be blessed. If they do not, if they fail to heed God's warnings, the Lord will bring ruin upon those people because of their purposeful and deliberate rebellion against Him. This is especially true for any nation who claim to be a Christian nation, following the Lord, then turned their backs on God. It's one thing for a nation who never knew God to stay in rebellion toward Him, and quite another for a nation who knew and followed the Lord to turn their backs on God. Any nation who abandons God can never and have never stood for long. This is one of the reasons why nations rise and fall throughout history.
