Follow the Lord, Do What is Right in His Eyes – (Proverbs 16:13)

Daily Bible Study
The proverbs are God's book of wisdom for us, they speak of both godly and practical wisdom for mankind. And this passage here is no exception. This passage gives us a practical application of wisdom we seldom see applied today. This passage tells us the proper behavior of a child of God, which also promotes the good of society as a whole. The message of this passage and many others like it, is that we are to do what is right regardless of personal gain or loss. We are to do what is right regardless of popularity. We are to do what is right, even if it means we do not come out ahead. This goes against the grain of our fallen world and against the heart of humanities sin-nature. However, regardless of that, it's what God says is right that matters. Our personal opinions, do not have relevance in regards to the validity of God's word, the Bible. We have to remember what the Apostle Paul told us, we live in a world controlled and influenced by the one he called, "the prince of the power of the air" who is Satan.
This means Satan is the major influence behind the world's philosophies, ideologies and social movements. All those things which go against Jesus and God's word. Our world today is not so much concerned with God's will or doing what God says is right, rather it has become more about satisfying emotions and doing what is good for us personally. Justification as become the personal mantra of a fallen world seeking to fill the desires of the flesh. However, what God knows, and humanity has forgotten, is the result of selfish behavior is destruction. In other words, if enough people are doing only what is good for themselves and not what is in the best interest of others, then we destroy ourselves, we destroy society and we destroy our nation. Sin is a disease which blinds us, and causes us to destroy ourselves, because the problem is sin is never satisfied, sin will never get full and sin will never say "enough." Sin always wants more and sin will never stop until it has destroyed its host, after which it moves on to the next person like a deadly virus which never rest.
