Pride is one of the most destructive spirits a person can have and that is why the Bible warns against it so heavily. Pride can cause us to view ourselves better than others and thereby make it easier for us to justify their mistreatment. Pride is the number one condition that has led to the downfall of many leaders and Satan himself. And most importantly, pride is the one quality in a person God cannot use! Pride causes us to boast and destroy others and pride causes us to love ourselves more than we love God. Throughout the Bible, we see that God has always used a proud heart to bring about the destruction of those who possess it.
Did you hear that dear Christian? God cannot use a proud heart! A proud heart makes us useless for the kingdom of God, because it prevents us from putting others before ourselves. Moreover, when a child of God has a proud heart, be sure that the Lord loves us too much to let us continue in that condition. The Lord will chastise His children to make them suitable for service and ready for use in the kingdom of God. Therefore, be of humble spirit, remember Christ died for us because we had nothing in us capable of saving ourselves. Our salvation is based on God's overwhelming love, mercy and grace toward us, and not because of any merit we possess. And always remember, pride has no place in the body of Christ, let alone a child of God. Pride is the one seed, which always grows into destruction.
