Righteousness and wickedness are more than just the actions we take and the deeds we perform. They reflect the attitude and condition of our heart! They reveal the source from which we draw our inspiration and our influence. Do we draw our influence from a dark and fallen world, do we rely on the ideologies of mankind and the things of this world, or do we draw our influence from God through the Holy Spirit? Our actions and deeds reveal to whom we belong. Do we belong to God or our we at home in this dark and dying world. If we are followers of Christ, then our deeds are the result of the influence of God and His righteousness in our lives. And because of that, we battle against the influence of the "prince of the power of the air", who is Satan, and the work of his demons in our lives.
This means we are under constant spiritual attack, and as followers of Christ, we must understand this truth, and store it in our hearts. Because what this means is that many of the problems we face start out in the spiritual realm before they manifest in our lives. In other words, the spiritual warfare which is waged around us can and does have a physical effect on our day to day lives. In addition, the more effective you are in the kingdom of God, the greater the attacks you will suffer. However, be of good cheer because Jesus has overcome the world and defeated Satan. And we move forward not under our own power; but under the power, guidance and protection of God Himself, through the Holy Spirit who indwells us. He is our protector, He is our general in battle and He will always point us to our Commander in Chief who is Christ Jesus our Lord.
