Our relationship with God is determined by our relationship with Jesus! How closely we walk with Jesus is the true indication of how rich we are in the things of God, because it determines our relationship with God the Father. In order to truly partake of the blessings of God's kingdom, we have to first be part of the family of God. And we do that through our faith in Christ Jesus our Lord. Through faith we are adopted into the family of God, as children of God and joint-heirs with Christ. And what we do out of our love for Christ builds up riches for us in Heaven. So the question then becomes, how many treasures have you sent ahead of yourself to heaven? How much have you added to your heavenly savings account? God gives each follower of Christ a special blend of time, talents, spiritual gifts and resources, which are meant to be used in service to the Lord.
If we spend all of our God given time, talents and resources on ourselves and on making ourselves richer here, then we will have nothing in heaven. And we will enter heaven as one escaping a fire with not even the clothes on our backs. However, those who have lived for the Lord and use the time, talents and resources God has given them here, to seek the lost, help those in need and help spread the Gospel; will be rewarded in heaven. When we see Jesus face to face, we will then understand the impact of our charity while living in this world. We have to be careful while we're here, living in this fallen world, that our riches do not become the price of our ransom. That our riches, do not become the cost we will have to pay to escape our captivity here and make it into heaven. If that is the case, then we will have nothing to show for our time here as children of God. When we meet Jesus face to face will He be able to say to us, "Well done, good and faithful servant?"
