When we see the phrase, "name of the Lord" used in this manner we have to remember this is speaking of God Himself and it includes all of the attributes of His divine character. Here God is contrasting the heart of the righteous, those who have placed their faith in Jesus with the heart of the wicked, those in rebellion against God. Those who have rejected faith in God and faith in Christ, God's Messiah. The righteous in God's eyes, are those who have placed their trust in Jesus alone, by faith alone. They are those who trust in God. And because of our faith in Jesus, ultimately we are safe and will spend eternity with the Lord. We have been redeemed by God, saved from the ultimate destruction of Hell. The wicked, however trust in their wealth, in the fallen world or in themselves. The wicked use their wealth and abilities as a means to boost their own pride and ego. Which the Bible tells us they use as bricks and mortar to build a wall for their own rebellion against God, and therefore their own destruction. Now there is nothing wrong with wealth in itself, what matters is how we got it, how we use it and what place it has in our hearts.
The wicked use wealth to replace God, they trust in their riches, rather than God. While the righteous use wealth to help others and spread the Gospel. These verses and many others like them, remind us of the promise that God will bring down the wicked, who are without Christ. Those without Jesus cannot and will not stand in the day of God's judgment. Without the Lord no one, rich or mighty, poor or weak, will survive the day of the Lord's judgment. And without faith in Jesus the wicked stand apart from God and therefore will face the ultimate destruction of Hell. As followers of Christ, we have to remember no one is saved by good deeds. Moreover, good deeds do not erase past sin, they do not count as extra, nor do they bring extra favor from God. Good deeds are God's standard for how we treat others on a daily basis. We are called daily to place others ahead of ourselves, to look out for the needs of others above our personal needs, and use our time, talents and resources to help others and spread the Gospel of Jesus. Therefore, they are not to be considered above and beyond what God requires from us on a day to day basis. Moreover, God judges us not only on our deeds, but also on the thoughts, motives and desires behind every action we take. Therefore, no flesh can ever, nor will ever be justified before God apart from faith Christ Jesus our Lord.
