God Hates a Scheming Heart – (Proverbs 20:23)
Daily Proverbs
Daily Bible Study
God hates a lying and scheming heart. Moreover, God will not bless dishonest gain and it truly does matter to God how we gain our wealth and what we do with it. A lot of times people will argue that it's the results that matter, that reaching the goal is more important than how we got there. And while some would agree with that line of thinking God does not. There is no such thing as "business is just business," with God. It matters to God how we do things, it matters to God why we do them, therefore, it matters to God how we go about our business. Why is this so important? Because how we go about our business and treat others affects our walk with God and how effective we are in our ministries and our service to the Lord. In short, it greatly affects how we spread the Gospel of Jesus with our lives, and how our actions represent our Christianity and our relationship with Jesus in our day to day affairs.
God is after our hearts, not our successes, God is after a relationship with us through Christ and not after the things we achieve. Dear child of God, this is one of the most important concepts for us to understand. That is, God wants a real, personal relationship with us, not just an acknowledgement on Sunday morning that He exists. Having real faith in Jesus and being called a child of God, means we let God into every aspect of our lives, we share our lives with Him. In other words, there is no part of our life that is off limits to God. And because Christianity is all about our relationship with God, through our faith in Christ, God will not bless dishonest gain. As a matter of fact, dishonest behavior by a child of God may bring with it the Lord's chastisement and discipline. In addition, the scales mentioned here in this passage, refer to any dishonest activity meant to give us an advantage over others or bring more success to ourselves at a cost to others.
