It is a joy for the just to do justice, but destruction will come to the workers of iniquity. A man who wanders from the way of understanding will rest in the assembly of the dead.

God's words in the book of Proverbs give us both godly wisdom to live a more abundant life for Christ, as well as practical wisdom for our day to day lives. God's words help us to live for Him, while living in a fallen world at enmity with God. And these passages are no different, these verses educate us on two tricks the world and Satan use to lead us into destruction. The first is the lie of the evil one which tells us that doing the right thing is hard and brings with it a heavy obligation. Dear believer, that is a lie from the pit of Hell itself. Doing justice, doing what's right brings both immediate and long term joy to our lives and strengthens our relationship with God, despite the attacks it can bring from those in opposition to God. And not only joy, but it brings relief, because it relieves the burden and guilt which weighs us down when we sin and perform injustice. Moreover, doing the right thing strengthens us and builds up the perseverance needed to continue the work of God in the world. In addition, it removes the fear of the consequences that come with sin.

The other trick of Satan is distraction. Distraction can come in many forms such as, being constantly busy, chaos at work or in close relationships, desires for material possessions, distractions from the world around us and desires to fulfil the lusts of the flesh. Satan and those demons who follow him will use any distraction that works in order to turn us away from the things of God. We must never forget we fight three enemies in this world. They are Satan and his demons, a fallen world at enmity with God and our sin nature. And they will work individually and in concert to bring about the destruction of humanity. They will create distraction through enticement to sin in order that we go astray from God. They will also create distractions by bringing chaos into our lives, making it difficult to focus on God's path and they will do their best to bring destruction and heartache. But, dear believer, we are not without hope! Moreover, the weapons we have come from God and they make up the Armor of God, which includes the Shield of Faith and the Sword of the Spirit, among others. And we must use the Sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God as it will build stronger the Shield of Faith that we use.
