Wisdom is better than strength and better yet is wisdom from the Lord. Here God's word compares wisdom with one of the strongest things built by men, a city. And God say's wisdom is not only better, but it's strong enough to bring down one of man's most secure buildings, a fortress. In other words, wisdom from God helps us to overcome problems and obstacles regardless of how big they may be. Moreover, through the understanding of godly wisdom, we come to the knowledge of salvation by faith in Christ. This is because true wisdom from God helps us to understand we cannot save ourselves, that we cannot earn our way to Heaven, because no one is truly righteous.

The Bible tells us that all of our good deeds done through human accomplishment, are nothing more than filthy rags before God. What God is looking for is a heart in love with Him, with Christ, with His word and a heart with love for those who are in need in a lost and dying world. True Biblical wisdom understands that only God, because of His sovereignty, can provide the grace and mercy needed for salvation, and that's why Jesus stepped out of eternity. The wisdom we gain because of our faith helps us to live a life pleasing to God and a more abundant life for the kingdom of God, for ourselves and those around us. Moreover, better than the most secure stronghold is our faith in Christ, nothing can bring down the salvation we have through Jesus. Nothing built by man can compare to the foundation upon which God has built our salvation, which is Christ Jesus our Lord!
