We Are Messengers of the Gospel – (Proverbs 13:17-18)

Daily Bible Study
Messengers bore an important responsibility and had an important role in ancient times. Much like today in certain areas of government and the military they can play an important part in communication. Their duty was to relay information from one point to another or from one person to another. Much like God's prophets relayed God's messages to His people to warn them of impending dangers. The integrity of the messenger was based on how accurately and how swiftly they relayed the information in their care, and whether or not they did so in a manner that correctly conveyed the intentions and emotions of the original sender. The wicked messenger was one who subverted the message either for their own personal gain, or to bring harm to either the sending or receiving parties.
The wicked messenger subverted their message, with little or no concern for the consequences their actions brought on others. And today every believer has an important role to play as a messenger. Every saint has been given important knowledge and understanding as to the grace of God and the love Jesus has for us. That message is the Gospel and God is watching how faithfully we deliver that message to the lost world around us. This includes whether or not we deliver it in a manner that brings glory to God. Through Christ each believer has been given a unique blend of spiritual gifts for the glory of God the Father. And because of this each and every follower of Jesus is responsible for how we use those blessings. In other words, God looks at how we use the time, talents and resources He has given us, to help those in need around us, to further the kingdom of God and to spread the Gospel message of salvation through Christ alone, by faith alone.
