These passages are part of a section of wise sayings given by King Solomon during his reign. Solomon was concerned that people understood the importance of the word of God. And because of that concern, he wanted to make sure those who read these passages understood they were reading wisdom from God. That these words written in God's book are excellent things for us, meant to provide counsel, knowledge and understanding for our growth as children of God. Godly wisdom not only gives us spiritual knowledge, and knowledge regarding God's plan of redemption, but it also gives practical wisdom for everyday life. Wisdom we can use to live a more abundant life, a life pleasing to God and helpful to those around us. We have to remember the Author of the Bible is God, not man. God through the Holy Spirit is the true Author of all scripture. The Bible tells us, that all of scripture is "God breathed." The theological term for this is "verbal plenary inspiration."
This means that the Holy Spirit inspired the authors of the Bible, using their own life experience and individual personalities, to faithfully record the things necessary to reveal God's plan of redemption for all mankind, along with His interactions with humanity to bring about the culmination of His plan of redemption and the return of Christ Jesus our Lord. Therefore, the Bible helps us to understand the love of God and learn more about our Creator and His revelation to us. Moreover, this means that the Bible in both the Old and New Testament testify of Christ Jesus our Lord! They do so because they speak of God's unfolding plan of redemption. This means we cannot truly understand the Bible unless we have a relationship with God through Christ Jesus our Lord. Why is that significant? Because with our salvation, comes the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, who enlightens our understanding of scripture in light of who Jesus is and what He has done for us. In addition, all of scripture helps to guide us and lead us into salvation, because it leads us directly into the arms of Jesus. The Bible makes it clear to us, that we can only obtain eternal life through Jesus alone, by our faith alone in Him.
