The Wicked Share the Greedy Heart of the Miser – (Proverbs 23:6-8)

Daily Proverbs
Do not eat the bread of a miser, nor desire his delicacies; for as he thinks in his heart, so is he. "Eat and drink" he says to you, but his heart is not with you. The morsel you have eaten, you will vomit up, and waste your pleasant words.

Daily Bible Study
These passages give us insight into the heart of the wicked who hoards their wealth. Those who are always withholding from those in need in order to increase their own possessions. These passages not only give us a glimpse into the heart of such a person; but they do so in order to warn us from falling into their trap. These passages do not speak against wealth, rather, they speak about the wicked and those who want to gain additional wealth at the expense of others. God is speaking about the wicked, those in rebellion to God are portrayed here. The Bible warns us that they will at first entice us feigning generosity, kindness or false admiration. In their hearts they truly despise every bite of the food their guest have eaten.

Their generosity was not from the heart, nor meant as a kindness. Rather, it was a means to hurt others and gain more for themselves. They do this in order to take advantage of their guest. And achieve their determined end, which is more possessions and wealth for themselves. In other words, they do this knowing they will create a situation where it will be easier to take advantage of their guests. They put others in a position of false confidence in their friendship with the objective to make the guest feel obligated toward them. However, the Bible tells us their hearts are not with their victims. Their objective is to put their guest in a position where they cannot say no. And in the end the guest looses much, much more than payment for the morsels they have eaten. God's warning is given here to help us recognized their tactics before we fall victim to their tactics.
