Do Not Fret Over the Prosperity of the Wicked – (Proverbs 24:19-20)

Daily Proverbs
Do not fret because of evildoers, nor be envious of the wicked; for there will be no prospect for the evil man; the lamp of the wicked will be put out.

Daily Bible Study
God's word tells us repeatedly not to become envious of the wicked and their apparent prosperity. As followers of Jesus, we need to understand we live in a fallen world, a world which is at enmity against God. And at enmity against the followers of Christ as well. Therefore, we should not become surprised or envious when those who are in rebellion against God, those who are part of a world in rebellion against God, prosper in their natural environment. In other words, because their nature is rebellion, they naturally flourish in an environment which itself is in rebellion against God.

We should expect evil to prosper in an evil world, but we do so knowing God is not mocked! And as we move closer to the completion of God's plan of redemption their time is quickly coming to a close. As we move closer to the time of Christ's return we are moving closer to the point when God will no longer be long-suffering. A time near Christ's, return when God will pour out His wrath on an unrepentant world. This period of time is called the Tribulation period. And it's a time of judgment for all those who prosper from wickedness. And we as followers of Christ must remember God gave us what we need now to serve Him and be a light to a dark and dying world. A light to shine the Gospel on those who are dying in the darkness.
