Follow Jesus in All Humility – (Proverbs 25:6-7)
Daily Proverbs
Do not exalt yourself in the presence of the king, And do not stand in the place of the great; For it is better that he say to you, "Come up here," Than that you should be put lower in the presence of the prince, Whom your eyes have seen.

Regardless of what we think of ourselves, Christ died for us because we were wretched sinners. There was never anything within us, nor will there ever be anything in us, by which we could save ourselves. Our salvation is the work of Jesus because of God's immense love for us! Moreover, there is nothing more we can do, by which God will add to the work done by Jesus on our behalf at the Cross of Calvary. It is all due to the grace of God. Whereby the Lord sent Himself to do what we could never accomplish. And that is to pay the price for our sins, once and for all time. Jesus took on the penalty for our sins, past, present and future. Therefore, we have humility because of what Jesus did for us, knowing we could never be good enough to save ourselves. And that's the message at the heart of these passages. God is interested in our hearts, not our accomplishments. God wants a relationship with us, not our resume. God is looking for those who love Him, not those who try to impress Him.
It can be hard to understand, but we have to remember, what we consider good deeds or acts of kindness are God's daily standard. They seem special to us because of our fallen nature, however, these are what God considers are standard behavior for every day life. And because of that good deeds do not erase the penalty of past sin. And to truly understand this and how much we truly need Jesus brings repentance and humility to our hearts. And when this happens we experience a change in character as we accept Jesus and the Holy Spirit changes our lives. These passages show us God's wisdom. They show us that elevating the humble is honorable, but the humbling of the proud is disgraceful! And because of this we should never seek our own honor, but instead seek the Lord, and God will handle the rest. We do not follow the rest of the world in their pushing and fighting to elevate themselves. Instead, because of the immeasurable love of God and because of what He has done for us, we who are His children walk in humility and the love of God.
