A Wise Word Spoken in Time is Like Fine Gold – (Proverbs 25:11-12)

A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver. Like an earring of gold and an ornament of fine gold Is a wise rebuker to an obedient ear.

Our words have a great effect on others. What we say and how we say it can often affect our relationships with those around us, as well as affect the lives of others. Moreover, the Bible has a lot to say about the fool and his words and the damage which comes from an uncontrolled tongue. However, when it comes to wisdom, God greatly praises those who study His word and follow the wisdom laid down in His precepts. Therefore, we must be in the regular study of God's word, in order for His wisdom to be with us. In these passages we are reminded that wise words spoken at the right moment can encourage others, build people up and help them through tough circumstances. Words spoken wisely are like fine jewelry to the hearer. They bring joy, build up the confidence of others and strengthen relationships.
Wise words appropriately spoken not only build wisdom in those that hear them, but they also make them feel better as they help to deepen understanding. Moreover, they can make others feel more valued and appreciated in the eyes of those they love and respect. Therefore, as followers of Christ, we are to seek to build others up with our speech. We use our words which bring edification and shine the light of the Gospel to a dark and dying world. And through our words, we help build the church stronger in order to spread the Gospel of Christ and seek those who are lost. We are to share the Gospel with those who do not know Jesus and we do that more effectively by following the guidance of the Holy Spirit as He directs us in our day to day lives. Moreover, in the mean time while we wait for the Holy Spirit's guidance, we are to be preparing ourselves for God's service, through the study of His word, the Bible.
