God Holds Us Responsible for What We Know and Do – (Proverbs 29:13-14)

Daily Bible Study
God gives life to both the rich and the poor, the oppressor and the oppressed. Jesus Himself confirmed this when he said, "God causes the rain to fall on both the just and the unjust." However, God also holds all of us responsible for what material and spiritual blessings He has given us and what we did with those blessings. Moreover, God looks at how much we know about Jesus, the Gospel and God's word, and what we do with that knowledge. God gives life to both the good and the bad and that's what the author of this proverb is referring to when speaking of God giving light to the eyes of both.
And because God gives life to both, God is also the judge of both. So to put it all together God gives life to all people, He gives blessings and knowledge to all people. God makes His grace available to all people. Together we are to use these gifts to seek and worship God, to help those in need around us and to further the spread of the Gospel to the lost. Therefore, knowing this is the calling of all people, we will give God an account of how well we accomplished God's calling with what He has given us. This also means those who are placed over us as rulers are to govern with truth, justice and without partiality as required by God. Because Jesus is the Lord of lords and the King of kings, He alone shall judge all mankind and rule forevermore.
