Part of the king’s God given duties was to mediate the compassion of God to his people. This meant God held him responsible for righteously upholding His laws and the defense of the helpless. Part of the God given duties of the king was the defending of the week and showing compassion to the poor. He was to do so for both the physical and the material needs of the people he ruled over. However, because of our fallen sin nature most human kings never lived up to their godly responsibilities. But there is coming a King who will rule perfectly, that king is Christ Jesus our Lord. However, until He returns, we are to help those in need, defend those who cannot defend themselves and plead for those who are ruined by the condition of weakness.
We are to seek out the truth in all matters, regardless of personal or social bias. We are not to jump to conclusions based on emotions or social pressure. We are to remember, this is a fallen world we live in and the social movements of the world are inspired and corrupted by the one the Apostle Paul calls, “the prince of the power of the air,” who is Satan. Moreover, if we claim to be Christian and God has placed us in a leadership role within society, then we also have a God given responsibility to treat all those under us fairly and without bias. We do so out of the love we have for others and the love we have for Christ and the respect we have for our Lord. We do so remembering we are His representatives here on earth. Our lives should reflect the Gospel to those around us, clearly displaying God’s love and grace to all people.
