A Man's Ways Are Always Before the Lord – (Proverbs 5:21-23)

For the ways of man are before the eyes of the Lord, and He ponders all his paths. His own iniquities entrap the wicked man, and he is caught in the cords of his sin. He shall die for lack of instruction, and in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray.

God is merciful and kind and we must remember all we do in this life is done before the eyes of the Lord and His holy angels. There is nothing hidden from God, not even the motives and desires of our hearts. This means God not only see's what we do, but He also understands and knows the motives and thoughts behind our actions. Yet despite this, when we sin, God shows His mercy and love for us by withholding immediate judgment, thereby allowing us time to repent and turn back toward Him. And when we fail to do so, we can receive warnings from the Lord. Many times when we fall into sinful behavior God will send people into our paths to warn us, or God may bring about circumstances which make it harder for us to continue sinning.

However, if those warnings are ignored the Lord will allow us to be caught up in our sin and face the consequences of our actions. For those who have accepted Christ, we know our sins are forgiven and ultimately we will spend eternity with Jesus. However, for a season God will allow us to suffer from the results of our sinful behavior when we rebel against Him. If we fail to turn back toward Him and continue sinning, God will give us over to our desires because He will not violate our free will. In addition, we should never accuse God of causing sin or trials just because He has allowed the consequences of our actions to affect us. Just as a father disciplines His children, God will allow us to face the consequences of our actions if we continue to turn and run away from Him.
