God’s Love Nourishes Our Souls – (Proverbs 10:3,6-7)

Daily Bible Study
When we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, the Holy Spirit takes up residence within us and through God's work in our hearts, we develop a hunger and thirst for God's word and the things of God. And as we grow spiritually through the work of the Holy Spirit in us and in our lives, our desire and knowledge of God's word deepens. That thirst for knowing more about our Savior, Christ Jesus our Lord, continues to grow and deepen within our hearts. This is part of God's work of sanctification, and as we grow spiritually, God begins to use us in the lives of others. As this process of spiritual growth continues, we develop a deep down love and joy because of God's work in us. We no longer have that longing or empty void we felt prior to knowing Jesus.
This is contrasted with the wicked who reject and rebel against God. They thirst for more, and as they gain more of what they think will satisfy them, they only become more dissatisfied, more restless, experiencing more anguish and longing. Because they reject God and because their soul is famished, they devise new plans, new activities to try to satisfy what is lacking in their hearts and minds. They do not know, they do not understand because they are blinded by sin. Their hearts cannot see that there is no amount of material wealth, beauty, drugs, alcohol, activities or adrenaline rushes that can fill the void. Many times the wicked reach a point of being unable to stop or to slow down, because to do so, to be alone with themselves is to feel and experience a longing the world cannot fill. Without Jesus, we cannot live a life of peace, joy and contentment knowing where we will spend eternity. Without Christ, we do not have that understanding of the purpose of our time here in this fallen world.
