He Who Commits Adultery Has No Sense, He Destroys Himself – (Proverbs 6:23-26)

Some of God's strongest words of judgment are reserved for those who commit adultery. Adultery is not only physical it is also emotional and most importantly its spiritual. God has joined man and woman together as one flesh. And this joining together is a special bond meant only for marriage, as our mind, bodies and spirits are fused together and we become one. Therefore, when we commit adultery, we are destroying a union God Himself has made for us. And the damage resulting from such an action not only damages families, our emotions and us physically, it also damages our soul and affects our spirit. It does so because it accelerates the hardening of our hearts against the Lord and the things of God. This sin more than others stops our ears from hearing the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
It deadens our ability to hear, understand and respond to the Holy Spirit as He communicates with us. This sin in particular more than other sins creates a desire that causes us to turn away from God. This type of sin causes rebellion like no other because it breaks the bonds that ties us to our spouses, to our families and to the Lord. Basically, this is the one sin that causes a special type of blindness in all those who commit it. It does so in order to completely destroy the bonds that tie a family together and to destroy our relationship with the Lord. And once the destruction is complete, this sin will lift the blindness in order for those involved to see the destruction it caused, and to feel the shame in order to turn sinners away from Jesus who is the one source of their salvation. Just as fire completely destroys what it consumes, so to adultery completely destroys our lives, our families, society as well as our relationship with God.
