Daily Proverbs
Do not rejoice when your enemy falls, and do not let your heart be glad when he stumbles; Lest the Lord see it, and it displease Him, and He turn away His wrath from him.

God takes no pleasure in the death of the wicked. Moreover, God is heartbroken over those who reject Jesus Christ our Lord. Remember, for as such were we, before coming to the saving knowledge of Jesus. Therefore, we are not to take pleasure in the destruction of the wicked. It’s God’s will that all people would spend eternity with Him in Heaven, therefore, we too should have a heart for those who do not have a relationship with Christ. This means, though we understand the destruction of the wicked because of their rebellion, we should not rejoice over it. Rather, our hearts should break for the lost souls of this world. We should seek out those who remain in slavery to the one the Apostle Paul calls the “prince of the power of the air,” who is Satan, and the things of this fallen world, a world which is at enmity with God.
We know the horrible destruction which awaits those in rebellion against God. A destruction that will last for all eternity. And because of this we are called by our Lord and Savior to shine the light of the Gospel to a world lost in darkness. For that purpose God equips every believer for the ministry He has called them to and He does so through the study of His word and our submission to the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Therefore, it is vitally important for us as followers of Christ to remember the world is always watching us. They are looking to see how true our faith really is and how it affects “real” change in our day to day lives. Because of this we must be conscientious that our lives reflect Christ to a lost world. And for the kingdom’s sake to always show the faith and love we have in Christ which saves us from Hell to those around us. Just as metals are melted in the furnace, so to the heart of the enemy can be soften by displaying the love of Christ to a lost and dying world.
