The Wicked Require Deceit to Bring Destruction – (Proverbs 26:18-19)

Once again, God is giving us a view into the hearts of the wicked. A look into the hearts of fallen humanity, tainted by our sin-nature. A place where only destruction, lies, hatred and rebellion live. Here, the Bible paints for us the picture of a crazed archer who is shooting both arrows, as well as arrows lit with flames anywhere and everywhere he can. He does so without discrimination. The archer is firing these arrows in order to cause as much damage and chaos as possible, to hurt and kill others. And that's the picture painted here in these passages. Then after painting this picture in our mind's eye the Bible gives us a spiritual truth.
The Bible tells us, "so is the heart of the wicked." We have to remember the wicked thrive on deceit. The wicked use deceit to harm their neighbors. They themselves want to escape harm, loss or judgment, therefore they use deceit to destroy others. Moreover, we have to understand the wicked desire the destruction of others. That is why the wicked use deceit to destroy the very communities in which they live. The wicked rely on deceit to carry out their work. With their hearts full of destruction, hatred and rebellion, they rely on lies in order to succeed in their plans. And they do so not only with a lack of concern for others, but has these passages point out, they do so with a desire for the destruction of others.
