Our Behavior Matters to Others and God – (Proverbs 25:24, 26)
Daily Proverbs
Daily Bible Study
These proverbs speak of the behavior of both men and women. And both of these proverbs are applicable to both men and women. And in both cases, they speak of living a life without humility and love for others. When a person is contentious they argue every point. They argue anything and everything and they do so constantly. And when this happens, it can wear out those who love them, but we have to remember this is done out of sin. People who do this, do it not because they are worried about injustice, nor is it because they want honesty. On the contrary, they behave this way because of anger and hatred as well as pride and ego. These emotions cause them to cruelly criticize others to make themselves feel justified in their behavior.
They do it as a way to mask the hatred they have in their hearts. The second passage speaks of a righteous person who falters publicly. When this happens, it can cause more harm than good. And this is why it is so necessary for followers of Christ to go about their daily lives with all humility. A prideful righteous person who falters and falls can cause more damage than all the good they have done. They can destroy their legacy of work for the Lord. This is because the wicked who see this will then use it as an excuse to impugn Christ and those who follow Him. Therefore, we as followers of Jesus are to show humility as well as care and concern for others, before we show it for ourselves. And by doing so, by acting only out of love for God and others, we will make ourselves blameless before God and man.
