Pride in the Hearts of Men Leads to Destruction – (Proverbs 21:2-4)

Pride in the Hearts of Men Leads to Destruction – (Proverbs 21:2-4)

Daily Proverbs

Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, but the Lord weighs the hearts. To do righteousness and justice is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice. A haughty look, a proud heart, and the plowing of the wicked are sin.

The final evaluation of a man's life is determined by God. God looks at us with eternity in mind, therefore God first looks at us by our faith in Christ. If that is not present then nothing else matters because we are doomed to eternal separation from God in Hell. It's only if we are found in the "Lamb's Book of Life" then our rewards are based on our heart and love for God and those around us and not by our religious acts. And to get into the "Lamb's Book of Life," we must first accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior. We must remember, that works pleasing in the sight of God are only those works done as an expression of a love we have for Jesus, for God the Father, for God the Holy Spirit and for those around us. Dear child of God, we have to remember that His will first and foremost, for all people, is the salvation of souls. God's desire is for all people great and small to spend eternity with Him, in His presence! Participating in the salvation of souls is the most important work we can do in this life, because it means we get to help the Holy Spirit bring one more child of God into the kingdom for all eternity. A person's salvation means one less person, who was created in the image of God, from spending eternity in the torments of Hell.

And for this cause and to this purpose, which is the salvation of souls, God knows the pride of men and God knows how that pride would have us spend more time in appearing to be religious and performing religious acts that people can see, rather than to help those who are lost. And that's why God is looking for those who have a heart for Jesus and a heart filled with love for those around us who are lost and in need. A heart which is characterized by humility, kindness, generosity and concern for those in need and those who cannot help themselves. A heart with a true love for God, love for Jesus and love for others. Dear child of God, here's the secret that Satan does not want you to know, we can only have a heart like that when we accept Jesus and let God change us from the inside out. This kind of heart can only come from the work of the Holy Spirit and His work of "sanctification" in our lives. When we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, God takes our spirit which was dead in trespasses and sins and replaces it with a new spirit, which is alive to God and the things of God. It's with our salvation that we are indwelt by the Holy Spirit who begins God's process of spiritual growth in us called "sanctification." And it's through this process of sanctification that the Holy Spirit works with our new spirit, to transform our hearts and minds giving us a love and desire for others, as He equips us for service in God's kingdom work.
