Kindness and Humility is Seen by God – (Proverbs 19:22)

In this passage kindness also carries with it the additional meaning of love, honesty, beauty and faithfulness, which is contrasted against deception and lying. We have to remember when God looks at us, He looks at our hearts and He looks at us with eternity in mind. God looks at the true motives, thoughts and desires behind our actions. In other words, God looks at our hearts. Our hearts for Him and for those around us. God is not concerned with the outward appearance, God does not look upon people as mankind does. We judge people by their outside appearance, by their actions and by how they present themselves and by their worldly status. However, God looks at the heart of a person. God looks at our character and where our hearts are at toward Him and toward others. Moreover, God looks at us with eternity in mind, not just the here and now and what we have in this world.
Therefore, what God is looking for is mercy, kindness, gentleness and a love for others, more than we love ourselves. In addition, God is looking for those who truly love the Lord. God is looking for a person who has a heart toward Him. In God's eyes these attributes are far more valuable than riches. These passages also tell us that God will not tolerate the deception of a liar. More importantly, God tells us it's better to be poor than a liar. What this means is our character, our heart towards God and others is more important than what we possess materially. Our character and love for God is far more important than what social status we hold, or the sum of our wealth. Moreover, it's better for our eternal good, and the blessings God gives us now through Christ Jesus our Lord. It's better to be poor in Christ, than to have riches gained through deceit and the deception of others. We have to remember God blesses us so that we can bless others. In other words, God blesses us so that we can use our time, talents and resources to bless others, help those in need and further the spread of the Gospel message, not so we can have more material possessions for ourselves.
